What You’ll Need:

  • 32 oz. vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup all-natural peanut butter

Cheese is another food that dogs love to eat. Parmesan and cheddar are the best cheeses you can give to your pup as these are low in lactose. However, what you may need to watch out for are the calories. This recipe contains a very small amount of cheese, which is just perfect for giving your dog the cheesy satisfaction it wishes for! And by the way, this recipe came from Martha Stewart’s kitchen!

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups of barley flour
  • 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tbsp. of Olive oil
  • 3 tbsp. of water

What to Do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or non-stick baking mat.
  3. Mix all the ingredients together and until you form a dough.
  4. Work with the dough. Roll it in around a quarter-inch thick in between two sheets of plastic sheets. Once the dough is smoothly rolled out, remove the plastic sheets and cut the biscuits using a cookie cutter.
  5. Put cookies on the baking sheet at least 1 inch apart and bake for around 30 minutes. The cookies should be nicely browned before removing in the oven.

7. Homemade Chicken Jerky | Healthy Pet Snacks

Oh boy! Your little pooch loves to chew, doesn’t he? Chewing is a very fun activity for dogs and it relieves them of their boredom. Thanks to this homemade chicken jerky recipe, you’re actually encouraging healthy chewing too. Chicken is a good source of protein for puppies and chicken jerky is not as dry compared to beef jerky…making it one of the most enjoyable healthy dog treats!

What You’ll Need:
  • 1 lb. of  boneless skinless chicken breasts (organic chicken preferred)
  • 1 tbsp. of smooth all-natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 tsp. of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. of water

What to Do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix soy sauce and peanut butter. This will be your jerky marinade. Add the water to make a paste.
  3. Coat the chicken with the jerky marinade and place in the freezer for an hour.
  4. Take out the chicken from the freezer and cut as thin as you can.
  5. Place each chicken strip on the baking sheet. Do not layer on top of each other.
  6. Bake jerky for 2 hours and cool before serving.

 8. Pumpkin Peanut Butter Cookies | Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats

If you plan to use pumpkin for homemade dog food or treats, always use canned pumpkin as it contains less sugar. Canned pumpkin helps with constipation and diarrhea and is packed with beta-carotene and fiber. However, little puppies can only eat two to three teaspoons a day so don’t overfeed your pooch with this treat.

What You’ll Need:

  • ⅔ cup of pumpkin puree
  • ⅓ cup of all-natural chunky peanut butter
  • 2 eggs, large
  • 2½ cups of whole wheat flour

What to Do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line the baking sheet with parchment paper or non-stick baking paper.
  2. Put the pumpkin puree, eggs, and peanut butter in a mixing bowl and beat.
  3. Add flour into the mixture and mix well.
  4. Dust your work surface with flour and then roll out the dough to at least 1/4-inch thickness.
  5. Cut out cookies with a cookie cutter and put cookies on the baking sheet, at least 1 inch apart of each other.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
